Mafia is set in the 1930s during the later part of the Prohibition which ended in 1933. The game map is based on New York City and Chicago this help the player to become more immersed into the game. By playing this the audience gain a knowledge of the American Depression and the Prohibition. The game received high critic scores and sold very well.
