Ben Templesmith is an artist and writer who is well known for his character designs in the comic book industry. I personally like the way he draws and portrays certain things as I feel he has really connected with his artistic style and this shows in his artwork as it is very confident and stylized. I have been influenced by his art in the comic books 30 Days of Night and Welcome To Hoxford as they are both dark and very well designed.

I really like the use of black in his designs and I also admire how he has created his art by using
the background colour as the main base rather than creating the models first then the background. This way of drawing will help me produce allot of imagery as I feel that its not heavily rendered and is far more simple and confident. The colour works really well in this comic due to the bland and saturated skin tones which bring other colours forward i.e the blood red really stands out.

30 Days of Night is also a very well designed comic done by Ben Templesmith. With this comic book I appreciate the use of mixed media as he has combined realistic faces with stylized line drawing which work very well together. This opens up another root which I could lead my interactive narrative project to.
