For years now storytelling has become a huge part of our childhood lives I remember growing up and my grandparents reading me stories like The Little Red Riding Hood, Tom Thumb and Humpty Dumpty. Also when I was a child I used to create stories without realising just because I associated play with story or role play, something as small as hitting a trees with a stick has a story behind it. Even games like Asteroid was coherent, us as humans need something to help us drive forward without an objective or reason we don't thrive to push on. So if the storyline of the game is shot and not coherent it is more than likely that we would tire and get bored which is very similar to when we where children if a story wasn't interesting you attention span would snap.
In order to create a good game its good know the fundamentals of a good story as it can make a huge difference in game design.
